Some News

So, yeah! I finally have news on my book. Without going into any great detail, I finally e-mailed my publisher asking when I would hear from them about the start of production on my book. They e-mailed me back within a day, telling me that according to their records I should have received an e-mail on the 4th, telling me that production had started. They then sent me a copy of the e-mail I should have gotten and it explained that the first month is the quiet month for the author because this is the copy editing part of production. It is next month when I will actively be part of the process, working closely with a conceptual editor to make sure my book is at its best. So, look for more updates come February, though I will try and have at least one more blog written within the month of January.

Waiting and Reading

Okay, so sorry for those that have been telling me that they keep checking my blog and I have nothing posted. Truth is that during the holidays, like most people, I was super busy. Second and most distressing is that even though my Publisher said that publication of my book would start in January, I have heard nothing from them yet. At first I thought that it was simply to soon in the month and that they were catching up on work after the holiday break. However, after the first week I began to worry, but now I have come to a theory that I think has some merit. I looked back at numerous e-mails and I realized that everything has been set to the 19th, when my contract was due, when a few changes and additions to the contracts were also due. Everything pertaining to my book has always been centered on the 19th of any particular month. So I have decided to wait until then and if I haven't heard anything from them by the 19th, which is this Thursday then I will contact them. So, I am still waiting on baited breath as the saying goes.

Second, another part of this blog was to talk about anything interesting that has happened in my life or in my reading, and interesting doesn't even begin to describe the Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins. I won't go into plot detail or character discussions now, but I will say this, I finished the entire trilogy in a week and a half, and that would have been sooner if I had not had work. It was amazingly written and plotted and at the same time you would have to be either dead to the world or too young to understand the many themes and lessons she was onto. It both awed and disturbed me to the point that I felt like I was the characters and had stock into what was going on, like it was actually happening. The truth is that I have not read something that has captivated me like this in such a long time that I was blindsided. Everyone kept telling me how good they were, but books are kind of like food, pallets of individuals are unique and thus what one finds delightful and perfectly in tune with ones taste, another might simply have rudimentary pleasure. However, since I pretty much read everything, I was willing to read it and boy am I glad I did. Basically, I'm telling you that if you haven't read it but like to read, you should give it a try, and even if you don't like it then some friendly arguments and opinions can be had.
