So in honor of the up coming holiday, I decided to write a blog about it. Now, as we all know, Thanksgiving, in America, was started by the Pilgrims in Plymouth MA after they were able to survive a harsh winter thanks to some of the Native Americans of the Wampanoag tribe. Now this is actually a contested part of history, some say the Spanish did it first in Florida and others claim that the settler in Virginia did it first, but for the sake of argument, lets say that the Thanksgiving we were taught in school is the origins. Anyway, it became an official holiday for every American under the presidency of Abraham Lincoln. He set it as the last Thursday in November in 1863 to promote unity for all of the Unites States, especially between the North and South, though states still had a say on whether they would or not, it was just the government would take that Thursday as a holiday. This lasted until December 26th, 1941 when the legislature decided to make it the fourth Thursday in November. Why they changed it, not to sure, but since the United States had just had Peal Harbor I feel that they were probably trying to promote moral by making it the same in all the states, since states still had the power to change the Lincoln date if they so chose.
Now, Thanksgiving is universally celebrated by all the states and by most Americans on that Thursday. The basics of the holiday are simple. You congregate with family or friends and everyone brings something to share and you stuff your face until you can no longer move without groaning. In my family, the children, who are all in their teens or early twenties, play games, such as cranium and Mafia, while the mothers and grandmothers have an intensive Black Friday war meeting in the dinning room, clipping coupons and deciding which stores they will camp out at. The fathers and grandfathers all just laze about, talking about hunting, computers and sports. Christmas music is usually playing in the background since in my family, the Christmas music does not come out until the Thanksgiving meal is over. Its all good fun and I hope that everyone can find somewhere that they feel invited and warm. After all, that is what Thanksgiving is really about, finding those people that feel like family and celebrating another successful year, even if it wasn't. You're alive, they're alive and that's all that counts, even if your dinner consists of diddly -squat. Just give thanks that you saw one more years, and that you have made it to the time of year where people tend to be a little bit nicer, except if you get in the way of their Christmas shopping, then you are on your own.
Just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving and just let it be a blessing.
This blog is being written to explore the books, my writings and just random questions or problems about life.

It is time to discuss books and writings.
So, I thought that it would be a good time to discuss both the current books I am reading and my upcoming book. The current book series that has stolen my full and undivided attention is the Dragonriders of Pern series. It is exceedingly well written and I find myself often absorbed in her plots and characters. For those wondering what kind of books I normally read, it should be known that I will read just about anything within the fiction realm. I do have a stronger tendency towards fantasies and science fiction, but like I said, I'll read anything. I'm also fond of classics, like Jane Austin, Charlotte Bronte, Mark Twain and so on.
Now, I should talk about my upcoming book. First and foremost, I have written a total of two complete novels but have about five or six that I have in the "works". The two that I have written are "loosely based" on well known fairy tales. Now, I should warn you that when I say loosely based, I mean that I took these beloved and well known fairy tales, shattered them into a million little pieces and then rewrote them so that they look nothing like the originals but have some obvious elements connecting them to their inspiration. You should also know that magic plays no part within these rewrites. I tried to make them more realistic, set in my own universe loosely based on historical Europe. Now, the one that has gone to be published is my version of Cinderella. My current title for it is "The Tale of Cinder and Ella" but I fully expect that to change since publishers are known to change titles if they come up with one that they think more sell-able. Everyone who has read it has liked it so I have great hopes for the project. If you have any questions, I will try and answer them in my next blog.

Why doing online job applications make me mad!
Okay, so this is part of my random life. I applied to a new book store coming into my area and I was super excited, because besides actually publishing a book, which I'm already doing, working at a book store is a perfect job for me. I already own over 600 books and have them all perfectly organized with a written catalogue of all of them, who they are by and how many pages they have. I also have a list for all of those that friends are borrowing. So I figured that I'm already cut out for it, well guess what thanks to those Internet personality quizzes, I was told that they would not give me a position. I'm honestly just baffled. I realize that I'm suppose to tell them exactly what they want to hear, but anyone can lie on one of those things and truth be told, I did answer all of the questions like I would have thought that they would have wanted it. I just find it funny that those quizzes basically encourage lying. But oh well, that is my rant for now.

The Tale Begins
This is my first blog and so I'm sure that they will get better as I go. I have always thought of having one, but never had a purpose for one until recently. I am publishing a book and I guess I just wanted to get the word out. However, this will be in the slightly distant future so for now I will be discussing anything funny or interesting in my life and about any books that I am currently reading that I think others maybe interested in. Write later when I have something interesting to write about.
