Why doing online job applications make me mad!

Okay, so this is part of my random life. I applied to a new book store coming into my area and I was super excited, because besides actually publishing a book, which I'm already doing, working at a book store is a perfect job for me. I already own over 600 books and have them all perfectly organized with a written catalogue of all of them, who they are by and how many pages they have. I also have a list for all of those that friends are borrowing. So I figured that I'm already cut out for it, well guess what thanks to those Internet personality quizzes, I was told that they would not give me a position. I'm honestly just baffled. I realize that I'm suppose to tell them exactly what they want to hear, but anyone can lie on one of those things and truth be told, I did answer all of the questions like I would have thought that they would have wanted it. I just find it funny that those quizzes basically encourage lying. But oh well, that is my rant for now.

  1. I agree that the psychological profiling that goes on in many companies is pretty useless. You're better suited to just find out someone's strengths, interests and then just sit and get a feel for the type of person they are in an actual, face-to-face conversation. Believe it or not, there are still places that do that. Unfortunately, they are fewer and fewer.

  2. I hear yeah. Strange thing is that people I know in management even hate them. I also find it funny that theft by employees is probably one of the biggest problems companies have right now, so I fail to see how hiring those that are just going to tell you what you want to hear is going to improve this. However, I feel much better about it now that I've slept on it and will move on. But thanks for the support.
